Don't Wait Another Minute!

Life is what happens to you while your making big plans...

by David J. Stewart

"Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth." —Proverb 27:1

No one ever expects to die an untimely death.  Yet, we hear about such deaths every day in the news.  Years ago, we were going fishing.  There' had been an accident.  It was Memorial day.  There were bodies lying on the ground, they were motionless, their eyes were bulging from their sockets, their hands were frozen in the air...you knew they were dead.  It's not something you see every day, and something you hope you never see again.

Recently I heard about the death of a friend of mine, Jeff Newman, a teacher of the Pedal Steel Guitar.  I had bought many courses from him over the years and was sad to hear of his death.  His granddaughter was taking pictures of him flying his new plane when something went horribly wrong and he crashed.  He died an untimely death in his 50's.  Yet, I rejoice because he was a born-again Christian.  I remember speaking with on numerous occasions.  He was a great guy, it's hard to believe he's gone.  Jeff was what I call "real people."  You knew where he stood.

Death comes suddenly friend.  Those 2,500 people on 911 didn't know what hit them.  People were jumping out of windows from 100 stories up just to escape the raging inferno which was burning them alive.  One firefighter was killed when one of these people landed on him below.  How tragic!  How sad!  Those people had no idea when they woke up that morning that they would never see their pillow again.  All of those people expected to live to see another day, but they didn't.

Did you ever stop to realize just how many people die ever single day in this world.  Think about it!  You can use whatever population and life expectancy figures you want, but your still going to come out with a staggering result.  I've done the math.  250,000 people die EVERY single day in this world.  Even by using the most conservative figures, you might be able to lower that number to 150,000 people.  Even still, that's a lot of people Dying!  How many of those people do you think die unexpected deaths?  Most?  A Few?  I believe most.  Surely, we all know that we must die someday.  Life is unpredictable.  Have you ever heard of a person with cancer who was supposed to die within a year, but they lived twenty more years?  Yes, we all have.  Then there's the people who are as healthy as can be who die for no apparent reason.  It happens every day.  Sometimes people just die.  God is the Giver and Taker of life, the Grim Reaper if you please.  Hebrews 9:17 declares that we all have an appointment with death.

Don't wait another minute friend!  Death is just a heartbeat away...one bad decision...one miscalculation...one mistake... you may not live to get a second chance!

It's the craziest thing!  People who will buy insurance for everything from their home to their car aren't concerned a bit about obtaining insurance against hell.  Hell is real folks!  I know because the Bible says so.  I know the Bible is true because it has stood the test of history.  No one has ever disproved the Bible's claims.  The Bible declared that the earth was round while men were still trying to prove it was flat.  The Bible stated that the sun was the center of our solar system while men were trying to prove that the earth was the center.  The Bible stated that the life of a human body was in the blood, while doctors were still killing people by cutting their wrists to let the blood out of their body.  Man has always been stubborn to accept the truth.  The Bible is accurate historically, archaeologically, scientifically and in every other way.  Is there another Book that so clearly defines the wickedness of mankind?  No!

You need insurance my friend and you can't afford to risk waiting another minute.  The best part about insurance for eternal life is that it won't cost you a penny—it is FREE.  Of course, you know as well as I do that there are NO free meals in this life.  Salvation is free to you and me; but it came at an extremely high price to God.  God sent His only begotten Son into this sin-cursed world to be beaten, ridiculed, spit upon, mocked, hated and eventually crucified.  God loves you and has paid the price with His own blood so you can go to Heaven (1st Peter 1:18,19).  Salvation is a free gift, paid for in full by Jesus' precious blood.  All you need to do is to accept the gift.  You don't even have to reach out because Jesus is already reaching out to you with eternal life.

" For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." —Romans 10:13

To be saved, you must come as a GUILTY sinner (Romans 3:19). You and I have horribly violated God's holy Law (James 2:10).  The big issue is our own SIN. We are all sinners (Romans 3:10,23).  As such, we deserve to be punished in Hellfire (Romans 6:23). Thankfully, Jesus paid the price for our sins to redeem us to Himself (Romans 5:8). You may receive God's gift of Eternal Life by simply by believing that He is the Christ (the Saviour) and trust upon His name for the forgiveness your sins... "To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins" (Acts 10:43).  Jesus has promised never to turn anyone away who comes to Him for salvation.  The only ones who ever went away from Jesus empty-handed are those who came full of themselves (i.e., the self-righteous).

"All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out." —John 6:37

Please don't wait another minute.
