I found the below article on an anti-war website. I thought it was generally good enough to put here, although it has a definite Calvinistic slant to it. Remnant Radio does not necessarily agree with all points made here, but i didn't want to edit the content.
To The Soldier
Some may view what we write and believe that IN ESSENCE we are anti-military or anti-American. We are neither, but seek to serve Jesus our king faithfully. While I realize I may never lay this accusation to rest I would like to reach out my hand to the soldiers who are currently serving in the Military, as well as those who may claim the name of Jesus but determine to abandon the service to his kingdom for a more carnal slavery. It takes a certain level of bravery and character to cause an individual to abandon their home, forsake their lives and live daily in want, hardship and risk. I would never say those who serve are cowards. Many of them have deeper nobility than the average citizen. Yet often people ask what our statement “Real Christians Don’t Choose War” means. When we chose this term I was unaware it was so unclear. I ask that if you are a soldier who claims to follow Christ you pray about these matters earnestly. Tomorrow you may find yourself face to face with Him, giving account to your choices, only to learn your sacrifice for the world was burned up in light of eternity, for:
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things [done] in [his] body, according to that he hath done, whether [it be] good or bad. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.” 2 Corinthians 5:10-11
Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends Jesus said but zeal without knowledge is dangerous.
If, while serving in the Armed Forces, you have been made a new creation by a new birth through the supernatural power of Jesus the Messiah you are now a member of a new kingdom with greater responsibilities. Paul explains this event as rising from the dead (Romans 6) and commands us that now we must no longer let our members, our bodies be used as weapons of unrighteousness:
“Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members [as] instruments (weapons) of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members [as] instruments (weapons) of righteousness unto God.” Romans 6:12-13
You now have the privilege to fight the true battle in which your enemies are not of the flesh, not are your weapons the weapons of the world but mighty in God.
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” 2 Corinthians 10:4-5
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].” Ephesians 6:10-12
`If any man, woman, Pastor, or Priest attempt to tell you that the believer must interpret these passages to mean we must kill others who are made in the image of God, they are liars and false prophets, agents of Satan and the State not servants of the Most High. When Jesus’ disciples wanted to call fire from heaven to consume sinners (Read here shock and awe) they were rebuked:
“And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem, And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him. And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem. And when his disciples James and John saw [this], they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save [them]. And they went to another village.” Luke 9:51-56.
Soldier of the American Empire understand if you claim Christ and seek to destroy others you know not what spirit you are of. You say you serve the prince of peace but you have usurped his purpose of salvation and redemption and ended a person’s ability to repent with your bullet or bomb. Do not despair in this but repent and do the works of your Lord in fighting the true enemy; injustice, lies, the serpent of old, hatred and your own sinful heart. While God gives you Mercy you cannot dish out wrath and punishment. If your Master refused to strike those that unlawfully arrested, tortured, and murdered Him what right do you have to be better than your master by destroying and taking life for an unjust nation in an unjust war.
“Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.” John 15:20
“For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed [himself] to him that judgeth righteously:” 1 Peter 2:21-23
You are called to suffer as Christ suffered and lay down your life for the gospel, not Democracy or any other political invention of men. Read these scriptures. Meditate on what they mean for your soldiering life. They trained you to kill Jesus wants to train you to love and give life. He wants to make you a living stone in his temple a high priesthood. Lay down the instruments of wrath and torture which America has taken up in wickedness. Shine your light into the hearts of the men and women around you by radiating Christ in the dark perversions of war. So what do you do? Refuse to kill or swear oaths but stay where you are until they ask you to leave.
“Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called. Art thou called [being] a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use [it] rather. For he that is called in the Lord, [being] a servant, is the Lord’s freeman: likewise also he that is called, [being] free, is Christ’s servant. Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men. Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God.” 1 Corinthians 7:20-24
I have been asked many times if Christians didn’t join the military how would people get saved. I contest, as my own life speaks that salvation is a Sovereign act of God and he needs no one. I was saved in a prison cell all alone with the burden of eternity in my heart. Yet as God drew individuals into the faith and they refused to do evil any longer their testimony would call others to Christ. James the Apostle was led to be executed and his resolve and faith cause his guard to confess faith in Jesus and kneel down to be beheaded with him. As you endure the hardship and mockery of condemning the evil of the American Military Industrial Complex through your refusal to fight, others WILL take note. Noah, through building the ark condemned the world that its deeds were evil. He built, over 100 years a testimony to God’s coming judgment. Be meek, be humble, patiently endure, and serve with a fervent heart. Serve those over you with joy refusing anything which dishonors or contradicts Christ and be a Holy testimony in an environment rife with unholy ness
As the scripture above reads if you are given a chance to be free, take it. You were bought with a price be no man’s slave but:
“.Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of [this] life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.” 2 Timothy 2:4
You have now been moved out of the kingdom of darkness in to the kingdom of the son. You are a soldier, a warrior, an ambassador for a greater kingdom than any people have other build. When America crumbles to dust as all empires do your kingdom will shine and stand alone.
“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated [us] into the kingdom of his dear Son:” Colossians 1:13
“For our citizenship is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:” Philippians 3:20
“These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of [them], and embraced [them], and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. And truly, if they had been mindful of that [country] from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. But now they desire a better [country], that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.” Hebrews 11:13-16
“Dearly beloved, I beseech [you] as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;” 1 Peter 2:11
“And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, [but] it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.” Daniel 2:44
Many will disagree with me but I ask you to pray and meditate on these scriptures and see how you can reconcile the death and destruction of war with the purpose of Jesus on the earth. Do not let false prophets and those who love a lie to deceive you. They are religious, and neither understands the scripture nor the power of God. As you were bold to go to war for a carnal nation, be bold for your Lord Jesus the Messiah.
`
To the Christian who reads this and still believes it is ok to put yourself under the yoke of Caesar I pray for God to grant you repentance. You are not to swear oaths to any land or constitution but your loyalty should be to Christ alone to do his will alone, for the kingdom of God alone. You are a soldier of the greatest kingdom in the history of humanity, why serve another Master. You say you are called, I say you are deceived. Christ would not call you to fight and murder in secular wars when there is a battle of souls to be fought. You are called to Iraq, go to preach the gospel and go prepared to die. Go to bring medicine and aid to the widow and orphan and stay unspotted by the world as James states:
“But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, NEITHER BY ANY OTHER OATH: but let your yea be yea; and [your] nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.” James 5:12
`”Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, [and] to keep himself unspotted from the world.” James 1:27
As stated above Jesus said to be slave to none because you were bought with a price. Once you enlist you are no longer your own to do as you please, but have become a slave of the Military, as their property. You have removed the yoke of Christ for another. In this time of war where America is killing based on lies, covetousness, and greed you have placed your hand to participate in war crimes. This is a dishonor to Jesus. We must minister to the innocents, pray for the leaders to repent and the people to wake up to the evil their country is committing before God is roused and strikes judgment upon this nation. If we would judge ourselves we will not be judged. Do not deny your Lord and sin by joining the military. Come Lord Jesus.
